OLIVER BIGGS PSYCHOTHERAPY
Bristol based Psychotherapist In Training
"The good life is a process, not a state of being.
It is a direction not a destination."
Carl Rogers
ABOUT ME
I'm a UKCP registered psychotherapist in training. I'm in my final year and anticipate becoming fully qualified in 2025.
I offer low cost therapy to adults in Bristol. I seek to create a safe and supportive space where anything can be 'put on the table' and explored.
I adopt an integrative approach, which allows me to draw upon a range of models to deliver a form of therapy that is tailored to you and your individual needs.
I believe that a good 'fit' between client and therapist is fundamentally important, and that the quality of the therapeutic relationship, between you the client and myself as therapist, is more important than any particular theory or technique.
Particular areas of interest include supporting people who are living with chronic ill-health, as well as those who seek to support others; whether it be as carers, activists, or in a professional capacity. I am a LGBTQ+ therapist owever I enjoy working with a broad and diverse range of clients and am always interested in discovering how I can support each new person, irrespective of their background, life experiences or presenting issue(s).
Training & Experience
I am currently completing a MA in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy at the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC), having previously worked and volunteered for public and third sector organisations in the fields of mental health and wellbeing for a number of years. I also work in education and have a keen interest in creative practice and the performing arts, particularly story-telling.
Having completed my foundation certificate in counselling and psychotherapy in 2019 I spent two years supporting a diverse range of clients via BCPC's Low Cost Service. I have now been running my own private practise for the last three years. I receive regular supervision and work in accordance with the ethical guidelines set out by UKCP and BCPC.
LOCATION AND FEES
I am based in Bristol and my primary practice is at Easton Business Centre on Felix Road in Easton.
For those with disabilities or limited mobility my room can be accessed via a lift and has access to gender neutral restrooms.
I also see clients at the Cotham Hill Practice Rooms, just off Whiteladies road, and the Clifton Practice rooms, on St Pauls Road.
In certain circumstances I will work remotely with clients via zoom, although this is usually only on a one-off or temporary basis.

WHAT IS PSYCHOTHERAPY?
A safe place to heal, grow and discover
At its essence, psychotherapy seeks to provide a safe and non-judgemental space that is just for you. With the ongoing support of your therapist, this space gives you the opportunity to explore your life; to gain a greater understanding and awareness of yourself, your relationship to others and to the world around you. This can involve the rediscovery and re-integration of parts of the self that have been hidden or 'lost'. As this new, fuller understanding of self emerges, so too may a new-found sense of energy, possibility and direction, or a new sense of peace, of compassion for yourself and others.
People seek out psychotherapy for many different reasons. It may be that you have been feeling unhappy with certain aspects of your life or in your relationships, that it feels like something has got 'stuck' in a particular way and that you want to get it moving again.
It may be that you feel a sense of uncertainty about who you really are; about how the inner you matches up to the version you show to the world, or fits within your day-to-day experience of life. Or it may be that you find yourself feeling overwhelmed by emotions, thoughts, feelings or behaviours that are getting in the way of the life you want to be living.
Equally, it may be all or none of these things! But if you have a feeling that something needs to change, that there is something in you or your life that is getting in the way of who and where you want to be, psychotherapy might be able to help. Please get in touch to find out more.
